Joint DFM/DFY-training of Munich University of Applied Sciences and MunEDA

Munich, Germany - Wednesday, July 14th, 2004

Munich University of Applied Sciences and MunEDA will offer joint DFM-DFY-training starting from next semester

The Munich University of Applied Sciences MUAS, faculty for electrical engineering and information technology, as well as MunEDA are planning to offer a joint DFM/DFY-training for students for the next winter semester. The training will be part of a class "analog, mixed-signal and digital-IC-Design" for the masters degree in electrical engineering at MUAS. Students will learn about design methodology, analysis and optimization of integrated analog circuits on the basis of MunEDA-Tools WiCkeD with special focus on Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Yield (DFY).

Prof. Dr. Hans Leonhard Zapf, head of the faculty for electrical circuit technology: "We are going to enlarge our course offerings in tight cooperation with MunEDA in fields of processes for automatic analysis and optimization for analog circuits from next winter semester. On the one hand, students will be familiarized with the theoretical basics like Monte-Carlo and Worst Case Analysis, on the other hand they will attend tutorials where circuit examples using MunEDA Software Tools WiCkeD will be given. This way students will be trained with modern concepts of design methodology and industrial standardized procedures which now are "state of the art"."

Dr. Frank Schenkel, Vice President R&D, MunEDA: "Supporting the faculty for electronic circuit design with our tool WiCkeD as well as delivering practical exercise examples pushes the cooperation with the FH Munich substantially. Furthermore, we are intending to widen this cooperation by several joint research activities."
