Fraunhofer IIS/EAS Dresden and MunEDA announce cooperation
Dresden-Munich, Germany - Monday, January 16th, 2006
Fraunhofer IIS Institute for Integrated Circuits/EAS Dresden and MunEDA will cooperate both in common R&D and funding projects
MunEDA and Fraunhofer IIS today announced to cooperate in order to speed up Design for Yield technologies for industrial partners and companies in Germany and Europe. To reach this goal Fraunhofer IIS will act as R&D and methodology partner for MunEDA. Both companies will also work together as project partners in current and future R&D activities and projects funded by governmental authorities. By taking the advantage of a joint R&D, Fraunhofer IIS and MunEDA are now capable to increase knowledge and technology transfer in fields of DfM (Design for Manufacturability) and DfY (Design for Yield) especially in the field circuit and system behavioural modeling.
"Starting this cooperation is a logical consequence from our meanwhile more than 2 years informal common activities. Fraunhofer IIS will contribute to this partnership our well established and deep understanding and experience in behavioural modelling, analysis and optimization", stated Dr. habil. Peter Schwarz, Head of the Modelling and Simulation Department of Fraunhofer IIS/EAS Dresden. "With MunEDA as a strong EDA partner we will meet the design challenges of our customers and partners".
"With the Fraunhofer IIS partnership we are enhancing our R&D and methodology capabilities", stated Michael Pronath, Vice President Products & Solutions, MunEDA. "We are able to deliver a wider range of DfY and DfM applications and solutions to our customers especially in the modelling area that we want to enable to progress in the area of hierarchical circuit simulation and optimization. MunEDA is pleased of being able to enlarge the cooperation with such an innovative and outstanding organisation like Fraunhofer IIS".
About Fraunhofer IIS Fraunhofer IIS/EAS Dresden is the Branch Lab Design Automation of the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits. Fraunhofer IIS/EAS Dresden performs R&D activities aimed at computer-aided design (CAD) of electronic and heterogeneous systems. The focus is on development of methods and tools for modelling, simulation, synthesis, optimisation, verification and test. Furthermore Fraunhofer IIS designs and implements prototypes of innovative hardware software systems mainly targeted at Telecommunications and Digital Broadcasting.
