IMMS and MunEDA announce cooperation

Erfurt-Ilmenau-Munich, Germany - Tuesday, March 7th, 2006

Institute for Microelectronic and Mechatronic Systems (IMMS) and MunEDA expand existing methodology and technology cooperation for common industrial and R&D projects.

IMMS and MunEDA today announced to expand their strategic R&D cooperation to further speed up Design for Manufacturabilty and Yield (DFM-DFY) technologies to the industrial and research oriented design community in Germany and Europe. IMMS acts already since several years as R&D and methodology partner for MunEDA. Both companies are working very successful together e.g. as project partners in industrial and governmental funded research & development projects (e.g. MEDEA+-Project ANASTASIA+). IMMS and MunEDA promote innovative DFM-DFY knowledge and technology within numerous common activities like workshops, tutorials and master classes for industrial companies and partners. IMMS has published in a technical paper at EUROSOI 2004 (www.eurosoi.org) outstanding results of the application of MunEDA´s design analysis and optimization tool WiCkeD on industrial circuit examples like operational amplifiers or trans-impedance-amplifiers.

"With several years of common methodology activities in the area DFM-DFY IMMS together with partner MunEDA further improved its outstanding knowledge in DFM-DFY application. We will expand this cooperation together with our customers and industry partners to enhance our leading position regarding design specific DFM-DFY applications with a special but not exclusive focus on automotive and sensor applications.", stated Prof. Dr. Franz Rössler, Head of IMMS Institute in Erfurt, Germany.

"IMMS is an excellent and reliable partner in pushing innovative leading-edge technologies especially from a design methodology and application view. MunEDA and IMMS therefore have developed several common offerings like workshops, trainings and tutorials for industrial companies and partners to enhance their own knowledge and understanding of DFM-DFY technology application. As next steps we are planning to expand our common methodology offerings especially for international and industrial companies and project partners", stated Andreas Ripp, Vice President Sales & Marketing, MunEDA

About IMMS
Institute for Microelectronic and Mechatronic Systems is a non-profit Research and Development organisation based in Ilmenau and Erfurt, Germany. It was set up to offer industry practical product development with a sound academic foundation, thus assisting in getting technological innovations onto the market. The main Research and Development activity at IMMS is the creation of complex engineering systems, largely involving heterogeneous microelectronic and mechanical components.
